The team consists of the following members
K. J. Somaiya Institute of Technology has established Institution’s Innovation Council (KJSIT - IIC) under the guidelines of Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) to promote innovation and entrepreneurship at Institute level.
To encourage, inspire and nurture young minds of students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes as well as products thus creating a vibrant local innovation ecosystem in the institute.
• To conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell.
• To mentor, identify and reward innovations and share success stories.
• To organize periodic workshops / seminars / interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators.
• To highlight innovative projects carried out by institution’s faculty and students.
• To organize idea competitions, business plan competitions, mini-challenges, hackathons, etc. with the involvement of industries.
In Annual Performance Rating for IIC 2.0 for the year 2019-20, KJSIT - Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) was recognized by the
Ministry of Education's (MoEs) Innovation Cell as:
a. Top IIC in Western Zone from 280+ IICs
b. One of the Top 40 IICs in the Nation from 1700+ IICs
c. One of the Best IICs in the Nation with 5-Star Performance
d. Scored 97.5 out of 100 with additional 183.33 Reward Points.
In Annual Performance Rating for IIC 1.0 for the year 2018-19, KJSIT - Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) was recognized by the
Ministry of Education's (MoEs) Innovation Cell as:
a. One of the Top 3 IICs in Western Zone from 159 IICs
b. One of the Top 25 IICs in the Nation from 952 IICs
32 Faculties, Staff, and Students from KJSIT have been selected as Innovation Ambassadors for A.Y. 2020-21 by MIC.
17 Faculties and Staff from KJSIT have been selected as Innovation Ambassadors for A.Y. 2021-22 by MIC.

A seminar on “Intellectual Property Rights” by Mr. Parvez Kudrolli, Principal Associate, Khurana & Khurana, Advocates and IP Attorneys and a webinar on “IPR for Students and Faculty Members” by Ms. Swetasree Majumder, Principal, Fidus Law Chamber on January 10, 2019.
A webinar on “Planning for Career” by Shri Anand Deshpande, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Persistent Systems on January 24, 2019.
15 Teams from KJSIT participated in Smart India Hackathon - India’s biggest open innovation model. Students of KJSIT stood 1st for the project by Mahindra and Mahindra (Farm EQ) and won a prize money of Rs.75000/-.
Innovative Idea Competition organized on March 16, 2019 to promote innovation and entrepreneurship for the students of FE, SE and TE of the institute.
